The 7 Health Topics

For teachers, parents and other interested adults:

All schools work on the seven health topics:

  • Food and Fitness
  • Mental and Emotional Health and Well Being
  • Environment
  • Personal Development and Relationships (including SRE)
  • Substance Use and Misuse
  • Safety
  • Hygiene

The seven health topics should be covered throughout the school's involvement in the scheme. In addressing each topic, the school needs to consider the following aspects of school life: Leadership and Communication, Curriculum, Ethos and Environment and Family and Community Involvement.  This will enable school's to develop an embedded, whole school approach to health that will increase knowledge and understanding and influence future lifestyle choices, which can impact on the health and well being of the county population.
